Pressed from Plum seeds

Plum is the fruit of a Prunus domestica tree from the Rosaceæ family. The plant belongs to the prunus family of peaches, apricots and almonds. The dried kernel of the plant is used to make plum kernel oil, which is traditionally used to lubricate the skin in some parts of France and Italy.

Plum kernel Oil

Plum kernel oil (INCI name: Prunus domestica seed oil) is very different from apricot kernel oil or almond oil. It has a complex and rich fragrance, a fruity top note and heart notes of almonds and marzipan. It is an oil with high emollient and moisturizing properties. Plum kernel oil is highly resistant to oxidation due to the high content of tocopherol. The oil leaves a very soft skin when it penetrates the skin, with no greasy residues.

Going Natural

Cosmetic companies use the positive image of plum as a natural fruit to take advantage of its pleasant fragrance, softening and antioxidant properties.

When plum kernel oil is used in lip balm formulations, it rehydrates the lips and gives suppleness and volume. In moisturizing creams, it adds nourishment and moisture in damaged skin due to its emollient properties. With shampoos, Prunus domestica seed oil gives hair a desired shine and acts as an oil-water emulsifier.

Almond-like Perfume

Plum kernel oil, which was first used in body and face creams for its almond-like perfume, is included in a wide range of products and benefits from the trend of using vegetable oils in cosmetics. Furthermore, plum is positively regarded by consumers as a healthy and "clean" fruit. Today, our oil is used in a variety of cosmetic products for its skin care, its emollients and its moisturizing properties.

Prunus domestica seed oil may be used in cosmetics and personal care products marketed in Europe in accordance with the general provisions of the European Union Cosmetics Directive.
